El Vaquero Brendon Maus
|
Coming from Brendon, Rancho Alamitos has been a home away from home. He is amazed at all of the growth he has attained as a person throughout his four years. As a freshman, Brendon joined the F.A.C.T. program, which not only pushed his academic goals further with rigorous classes but also forged incredibly strong bonds with seeming strangers in the beginning. Brendon also joined cross country as a freshman and steadily moved his way on up to attain a varsity position and join his fellow racers at the C.I.F. races twice. After his cross country season, Brendon went over to tennis as well, and also moved up to varsity and was also able to go to C.I.F. with his fellow teammates. He states that these experiences in sports will stay with him as he grew as a person through the obstacles that he faced. By also joining multiple clubs such as CSF, Quiz Bowl, and Student League, Brendon also learned the need to volunteer to the community and to learn to lead. Through both his sports and clubs, Brendon learned that he is not alone in what needs to be done and that he can rely on his team to accomplish anything. In the future, Brendon plans to study software engineering to pursue his dream of working on artificial intelligence.

La Vaquera Roxanna Juarez
|
Coming into Rancho, Roxanna was determined to challenge herself academically while obtaining a unique high school experience. Rancho Alamitos has been a place of maturity, self-discovery and has strengthened her ability to lead inside the classroom and outside in the community. She appreciates the many teachers and staff who have guided her through high school and believed in her potential for success. As a freshman, she was solely focused on her academics which did not satisfy her desire to make an impact on campus. She joined Ballet Folklorico and cheer which helped her learn valuable teamwork skills and encouraged her to step out of her comfort zone. She also joined clubs such as Student League, CSF, and Ecology club which allowed her to become an active volunteer. Sophomore year she was awarded the Simon Family Foundation Scholarship which broke barriers that were impeding her from dreaming of obtaining a higher education. After years of involvement, Roxanna is president of National Honors Society, Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica and AVID club. She has learned the importance of responsibility thanks to the various clubs and is grateful to have found a second family through them.
Roxanna plans to major in English and attend law school to become an immigration lawyer so she can assist the many undocumented families in her community. Her time at Rancho has fueled her passion to serve others and shaped her into a more optimistic and diligent person. She is deeply proud to call Rancho Alamitos her alma mater. |
